"Design for (every)one” is a design and research project that aims to bridge the gap between inclusive design and personal manufacturing. Co-construction is applied as an incremental personalization process involving simultaneously design team members, patients and occupational therapists blending the boundaries of design time and use time. The use of experience prototyping and low volume manufacturing techniques enable us to make products that are adaptive to skills and emergent challenges of unique disabled users.
Our client, David, has a physical disability that prevents him to move his shoulders. He lives independently, but one of the things that bothers him most is the fact that he can not take off his jacket all by himself. We developed a tool that, with the help of strong magnets, allows David to pull his jacket from his shoulders. Thus vastly improving his self-dependence. This project won a CERA award. |
